After the honeymoon

For me trying to loose weight is a never ending battle of mind games. It's funny once you have been on this ride before, how quickly your mind will try to make you give up, kinda fight or flight. The beginning of any weight loss plan is what us veterans call "the honeymoon stage" now if you are someone who is always battling the bulge you know this well! The first 2 weeks... week one always a huge loss if sticking to a plan, then week two not so huge but still new and encouraging... week 3 and beyond - OK now the work and planning sets in and either your in it for the long haul or you are out! Week 3 is always the turning point for me anyways, but I have to say it has been easier this time working daily with team "pro-energy" at Gente Bella Health and Wellness centre.  The thing is to accept the guidance and be thankful for the support, then put your plan into place.  My plan started last week, be diligent about writing down all food and carb totals and ramp up the activity, 1 hour a day doing something I enjoy.  Well I have to say I am a social person so the more I can do activity with a buddy the better and I'm meeting more like minded people all the time on this journey! Some of the fun stuff I did with friends last week included stairs, bike rides, running and long walks... all I love to do but being over 200 pounds my body doesn't always love back!

This morning was my first long run day since starting back to my 3 day a week running program. Now before you think "oh she is a runner..." NO I swear my run is probably about as fast as your fast walk, however it is a jog for me and I get a great sweat up! Anyway the plan I set out for myself was to do my old 5km route (did almost daily years ago when I was much lighter) and run for 1 min 30 sec. and recovery walk for 2 min.  Well the good news is I did it! But I have to say it is sometimes torture when you mind is remembering how it felt but your tired body can't wait for the 1:30 beep on your iPhone, sometimes 1:30 feels like half hour lol... I finished, got my mat out on my driveway (it was in the shade and cooler than in my house) and did my stretching. Felt great and set my day up for success! I am tracking and planning, that is what will keep me loving this beyond the honeymoon and my first goal I have set for myself is to hit 199 pounds, back to onderland! So one step at a time one pound at a time I am heading there! 13 pounds to go!

I would love to hear about your plan and weight loss journey, please feel free to comment and share.
If you would like to find out more about the plan I am following contact Gente Bella at 604-847-0535
